The IPPC Secretariat wishes to remind all IPPC Official Contact Points of the ongoing open call by FAO for the submission of data on antimicrobial use (AMU) in plants through the InFARM system. The deadline for submission has been extended to 30 June 2026.
The IPPC Secretariat would also like to express its sincere appreciation to all countries that have already contributed data and engaged in this important initiative.
Continuity of previously submitted data
Data previously submitted through IPPC Observatory Surveys on AMU have been preserved and remain an important foundation for ongoing work. A final study report based on these data is currently under development and will be published in the coming months.
The data gathered through the IPPC Observatory will not be directly integrated into the InFARM system as the surveys differ in design and structure. Participation in InFARM therefore represents a direct continuation and strengthening of the IPPC Observatory Surveys on AMU, ensuring that countries’ past efforts are built upon and translated into more comprehensive, long-term insights at the global level. The IPPC Secretariat encourages all contracting parties to participate in this initiative.
How to participate
Countries are invited to:
Nominate a national InFARM focal point for AMU in plants;
Complete and submit the enrolment request form to: [email protected] and [email protected];
Once enrolled, submit data through the online InFARM platform.
The nominated focal point should be a national expert on antimicrobials used as pesticides, preferably the country’s IPPC Official Contact Point. Where this is not possible, another qualified expert may be designated.
The focal point is encouraged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including customs authorities, farmers, pesticide distributors and retailers and pesticide registration and regulatory authorities to gather the necessary data.
