Reminder to register for the Open-ended IPPC workshop on the International Movement of Grain

Posted on Fri, 14 Oct 2011, 08:10

Dear IPPC contact point,

This is a reminder that the Open-ended IPPC workshop on the International Movement of Grain will take place 6 to 8 December 2011 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The CPM-5 (2010) terms of reference for this workshop are attached.

The North American Plant Protection Organization (NAPPO) has offered their services to organize this workshop and full details on this workshop are posted on NAPPO s web site: http://www.nappo.org/en/?sv=&category=Workshops&title=Grain .

We encourage those interested to ensure they submit their completed registration forms to the NAPPO Secretariat no later than the 15 November 2011. The Steering Committee for this workshop may have to limit the participation to help ensure some regional balance is maintained at the workshop and priority will be given to participants who register early.

There is limited funding to fully or partially assist with the travel costs of some participants. Requests for financial assistance should be submitted the Ms. Alba Campos in the NAPPO Secretariat ([email protected]) no later than 24 October 2011. Requests for funding should be accompanied by a written request which provides examples of problems encountered in the past, a proposal for actions that will be taken when the applicant returns to their home county and information that will help the Steering Committee asses the criteria below.

The Steering Committee will use the Criteria for setting priority for travel and DSA funding that is posted on the workshop s website. In addition to considering the financial resources of the country in which a participant is employed, priority will be given to participants:

  • from countries with higher volumes of grain traded: imports and exports in MT;

  • who provide partial funding;

  • who apply early (date request for funding received);

  • who are endorsed by their RPPO;

  • who justify why they should participant in this meeting.
