Plant Health Management Essential to Mitigate for Climate Change

The 3rd IPPC Seminar on Plant Health and Climate Change was held in FAO-HQ on 27 January. The Seminar was chaired by Mr Jingyuan Xia, the Secretary to the IPPC Secretariat, with over 80 participates present including those from Missions or Embassies of China, France and South Africa. There were also some participates from Argentina, Canada, Egypt, Ivory Coast, USA, etc. through virtual meeting. WTO and FAO to Collaborate on Trade and Food Safety

The leaders of the WTO and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations announced on 2 November their agreement to collaborate on the issue of trade and food safety. WTO Director-General Roberto Azevêdo and FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva agreed at the FAO headquarters in Rome that the two organizations will look into how sanitary and phytosanitary standards and food safety can facilitate trade and promote development.

The FAO Director-General: the use of public standards to ensure phytosanitary protection and food security

Expert Consultation on Phytosanitary Evaluation and Phytosanitary Measures in Near East Countries (Tunisia – Hammamet , 15 – 26 September 2003)

The Expert Consultation on Phytosanitary Evaluation and Phytosanitary Measures was held as part of a programme to build phytosanitary capacity in the Near East region.
