Rome, 11 June 2025 – The IPPC Plant Health Campus has reached an important milestone: its French-language version is now online providing francophone professionals, researchers, students, and plant health authorities with direct access to certified, interactive, and free capacity development resources.
This development marks a strategic turning point for plant health learning and training at the global level. Thanks to the generous support of the European Union, the Campus is being progressively deployed in its entirety in both English and French, with educational content to be added through the end of June 2025.
“What we’re offering today is broader and fairer access to plant health knowledge,” said Sarah Brunel, Lead of the Implementation and Facilitation Unit at the IPPC Secretariat. “Thanks to the EU, we are making available courses, guides, and learning pathways designed to meet the needs of countries and professionals in the field.”
A platform designed for plant health experts, including academic institutions
Developed by the IPPC Secretariat in partnership with the FAO elearning Academy, the Campus is intended as a global learning hub for plant health. It brings together certified e-learning courses, technical guides, and structured learning pathways covering pest risk analysis, surveillance, inspection, market access, communication, and more.
In addition to national plant protection organizations (NPPOs), the platform is relevant for all the global plant health community, including universities, researchers, and students, providing reliable, up-to-date resources that academic institutions can easily integrate into their teaching or research programmes.
“This is a real opportunity for francophone countries,” noted Saliou Niassy, Coordinator of the African Union’s Inter-African Phytosanitary Council. “By expanding access to high-quality and multilingual training, we strengthen the resilience of our national phytosanitary systems and lay the groundwork for safer, more sustainable trade.”
Learners can complete courses at their own pace, online or offline, and earn certified digital badges, which can be shared on social media or included in CVs. These badges provide formal recognition of acquired skills and help increase learners’ professional visibility.
Plant protection organizations, Universities, governental organizations and all plant health professionals and enthusaists — the IPPC Plant Health Campus is now available for you to use!
A vital tool for training a new generation of experts, better prepared and better equipped to address today’s and tomorrow’s plant health challenges.
