The IPPC sends condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Ian Smith

Dr. Ian Smith had a long and stellar career in plant protection, having been the Director-General of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) and was associated with the development of European standards in plant protection. He was an active and valuable member of the IPPC community, particularly in the development of International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures.

The IPPC community mourns his passing and sends deepest condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
