The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) is an international treaty whose mission is to secure common and effective actions to prevent the spread and introduction of pests of plants and plant products that may affect the world s plant resources both cultivated and wild. In the context of the IPPC work programme, the IPPC Secretariat if looking for a person that will provide technical support to IPPC contracting parties on meeting national reporting obligations. In support of these objectives, the incumbent will:

analyze technical issues related to the IPPC in support of contracting parties meeting their national reporting obligations; review strategies used to address challenges to contracting parties meeting their national reporting obligations and identify issues of effectiveness; monitor data from reporting systems on key factors impacting contracting parties meeting their national reporting obligations and inform/alert programme managers on emerging trends and activities; compile information on the IPPC national reporting obligations programme activities to inform the Secretariat and contracting parties of approaches and trends which affect contracting parties meeting their obligations; promote issue awareness and the development of networks through collaboration with technical specialists within the Organization, IPPC contracting parties and regional plant protections organizations; contribute to the preparation of case studies, guidelines, reports, publications and presentations in support of the IPPC national reporting obligations programme delivery perform other related duties as required.
