Description

Presentation on the SPS Notification System and how it is related to the IPPC. This is the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures

The WTO was established on 1 January 1995. At that time the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) came into force. The WTO-SPS Agreement recognizes the IPPC as the relevant international standard setting organisation for the elaboration of international standards to help ensure that phytosanitary measures are not used as unjustified barriers to trade.

En aquellos momentos entró en vigor el Acuerdo sobre la aplicación de medidas sanitarias y fitosanitarias (MSF). El acuerdo MSF/OMC reconoce a la CIPF como organización internacional normativa pertinente para la elaboración de normas internacionales con el fin de ayudar a garantizar que las medidas fitosanitarias no se utilicen como obstáculos injustificados al comercio.
