PHYTOSANITARY TREATMENTS

Treatment: Official procedure for the killing, inactivation or removal of pests, or for rendering pests infertile or for devitalization (ISPM5 Glossary of phytosanitary terms)

Treatment schedule: The critical parameters of a treatment which need to be met to achieve the intended outcome (i.e. the killing, inactivation or removal of pests, or rendering pests infertile, or devitalization) at a stated efficacy (ISPM5 Glossary of phytosanitary terms)

Fumigation: Treatment with a chemical agent that reaches the commodity wholly or primarily in a gaseous state (ISPM5 Glossary of phytosanitary terms)

Heat treatment: The process in which a commodity is heated until it reaches a minimum temperature for a minimum period of time according to an official technical specification (ISPM5 Glossary of phytosanitary terms)

Irradiation: Treatment with any type of ionizing radiation (ISPM5 Glossary of phytosanitary terms)

ISPM 5 GLOSSARY OF PHYTOSANITARY TERMS

This reference standard is a listing of terms and definitions with specific meaning for phytosanitary systems worldwide. It has been developed to provide a harmonized internationally agreed vocabulary associated with the implementation of the IPPC and ISPMs.

The country page shows the contact information of the IPPC Official Contact Points of the IPPC Contracting Parties and local contacts of non-Contracting parties and Territories. Under the contact information, it lists the public national reporting obligations which shall be reported by the contracting parties via this Country page.
