Rome 17 December 2021. The Task Force on Topics (TFT) meeting took place virtually on 16 December 2021 to finalize recommendations to CPM-16 for the 2021 Call for Topics submissions.

The 2021 Call for Topics was open 4 May – 15 September 2021. 17 topic submissions (7 standards, 3 implementation resources, and 7 diagnostic protocols (DPs)) have been received from 8 contracting parties and 2 regional plant protection organizations.

Following the call for topics process agreed by CPM-13, the TFT reviewed the Standards Committee (SC) and Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC) recommendations from their November 2021 virtual meetings, agreed with them and prepared recommendations and priorities that will be presented to CPM-16 for adoption.

The TFT recommended CPM-16 to adopt 4 topic submissions for the proposed standards and implementation resources and note the TFT recommendations on 6 proposed diagnostic protocols.

The TFT also reviewed the preliminary assessment online forms and provided suggestions for improving the call for topics training sessions at the IPPC regional workshops.

The meeting was chaired by Mr Steve Côte (Canada), with Mr Lalith Bandula Kumarasinghe (New Zealand) acting as rapporteur.

The TFT December 2021 virtual meeting report will soon be available on the TFT webpage.
