Rome 17 December 2021. The IPPC Technical Panel for the Glossary (TPG) meetings took place virtually from 8 to 16 December 2021.

To ensure the smooth continuity of the IPPC standard setting process and avoid significant delays in standards development, the TPG addressed in advance the TPG-related comments on draft ISPMs submitted for the first consultation via the IPPC Online Commenting System. Consequently, the TPG finalized the responses at the meeting and reviewed the remainder of their work programme.

The TPG discussed the proposals for new and revised terms/definitions, which will be compiled into new draft Amendments to the Glossary to be submitted to the Standards Committee in May 2022. The TPG also worked on the proposals for amendments to “General recommendations on use of terms in ISPMs” and introductory wording in the IPPC Style Guide (2019) and reviewed its work plan.

The TPG and the IPPC Secretariat warmly welcomed the new TPG member for the Russian language, Mr Konstantin Grebennikov (Russian Federation), whose term started in 2021, and Mr Andrei Orlinski as an invited expert to facilitate the handover from Mr Orlinski to the new expert on the Russian language.

The meeting was chaired by Ms Beatriz Melcho (Uruguay), with Ms Laurence Bouhot-Delduc (France) acting as a steward and Mr Ebbe Nordbo (Denmark) as rapporteur.

The TPG December 2021 virtual meeting report will soon be available on the TPG webpage.
