Capacity Development Committee Continues Progress to Strengthen Phytosanitary Systems

The IPPC’s Capacity Development Committee (CDC met 1-5 June 2015 in San Jose, Costa Rica. This was the sixth meeting of the CDC since it formed in 2012 to guide the IPPC’s Secretariat’s work to implement the Capacity Development Strategy and Work plan that the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures approved. The InterAmerican Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture hosted the meeting.

At the meeting, the CDC advised on two global-level projects for which it is the project steering committee. The group also discussed options for new projects and activities including the program of side sessions for the 11th session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures, and reviewed its work plan. In addition, all CDC members and observers to the meeting shared updates on phytosanitary capacity development activities taking place in their regions.
