CPM Bureau completes the CPM Focus Group nominations

Rome, 17 June 2021. The Bureau of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) held an extraordinary meeting to finalise the nominations for the CPM Focus Groups on Implementation of the IPPC Strategic Framework 2020 – 2030 Development Agenda Items; Climate Change and Phytosanitary Issues; and Communications. The three CPM focus groups are expected to hold their first meetings in July 2021 and provide inputs on advancing the IPPC work plan globally.

The meeting proceeded smoothly and saw the endorsement of several nominated members, while the CPM Bureau agreed to have an e-decision on some nominations for the CPM focus group on Climate Change and Phytosanitary Issues by Wednesday, 23 June. The need to have CPM Bureau members joining the work of the CPM focus groups emerged clearly and will be discussed at the next ordinary meeting scheduled on Thursday, 8 July 2021. The IPPC Secretariat will also indicate focal points for each CPM focus group to facilitate their work.
