Rome, 24 September 2020. The Bureau of the Commission for Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) held an extraordinary virtual session to continue discussing items deferred from the previous meeting and in preparation for the Strategic Planning Group (SPG) meeting in October. The CPM Bureau tackled some key components linked to the implementation of the IPPC Strategic Framework 2020 – 2030, such as the Phytosanitary Treatment Research Tool, the IPPC Partnership Strategy, Global Phytosanitary Research Coordination and the Impact on Climate Change on Plant Health.

CPM Bureau members provided meaningful guidance and feedback on each agenda item, also in light of the upcoming discussions at the SPG meeting on 8 -9 October. Mr Javier TRUJILLO informed the CPM Bureau that he sent the letter in his capacity as CPM Chairperson to Ms Beth BECHDOL, Deputy Director-General (DDG) of FAO, underlining the key elements to be addressed in relation to the positioning of the IPPC Secretariat within the FAO new structure as discussed during the previous CPM Bureau meeting.
