IPPC launches 2023 Call for Topics

Posted on Mon, 29 May 2023, 12:17

The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) has launched the biennial Call for Topics: Standards and Implementation to be included in the IPPC work programme and to fill gaps in the IPPC Strategic Framework 2020-2030.

The submission deadline is 15 September 2023.

Contracting parties and RPPOs are invited to submit proposals on:

  • new topics for International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs);
  • new components to existing ISPMs, such as supplements, annexes, or appendices;
  • revisions or amendments to adopted ISPMs, supplements, annexes, appendices, or glossary terms;
  • pests for which a new diagnostic protocol should be developed;
  • specific commodity standards to be developed under the ISPM 46;
  • new implementation resources; and
  • revisions to existing implementation resources.

Proposals should include a draft specification (except for diagnostic protocols), a literature review and justification that the proposed topic meets the CPM-approved criteria for topics, available in the IPPC procedure manual for standard setting.

The IPPC Secretariat encourages contracting parties and RPPOs to have bilateral discussions, especially in developing topics with a global scope.

Proposals for Phytosanitary Treatments (as annexes to ISPM 28: Phytosanitary treatments for regulated pests) are made separately. Click here for more information.
