Major Achievements in Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships of the IPPC Secretariat for 2017

Significant achievements were obtained in communication, advocacy, and partnership of the IPPC Secretariat for 2017 through the efforts of the Integration and Support Team (IST) and the support of the Standards Setting Unit (SSU) and the Implementation Facilitation Unit (IFU), as well as the assistance of the Task Force for Communication and Advocacy (TFCA) and the Task Force for Resource Mobilization (TFRM). Among many others, the major achievements are highlighted as follows.

IPPC Communications Needs Assessment

We would like to inform you that the IPPC Secretariat is currently reviewing communications efforts to improve awareness of the IPPC and its work. As part of that, we have developed a survey that will help us to obtain a clear understanding of the IPPC's audiences and how they receive information about the IPPC and advocacy material. This survey will also show how the IPPC Communications Strategy, adopted at CPM-8 (2013), is being implemented in your country. The survey will be sent this week to all official IPPC Contact Points and participation will provide crucial information to the Secretariat ...

Southern African countries improve the flow of information to support plant protection and trade

Group discussionsDuring the SADC Plant Protection Committee Meeting of 2009 and also at the 5th Session of the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM-5) held in Rome in March 2010, the SADC Secretariat was requested by its member states to convene a training on information exchange in the framework of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the use of the International Phytosanitary Portal (IPP). To that end, a workshop was hosted by the South African NPPO with financial support from SADC.
