Rome, May 22, 2020. The Republic of Korea and Costa Rica are the most recent IPPC Contracting Parties to go into live production in the IPPC ePhyto Solution. Both countries are ramping up their participation methodically, and thus far neither has reported any problems.

IPPC Secretary Jingyuan Xia commented that “with the addition of Korea and Costa Rica, the number of countries actively using the IPPC ePhyto Solution has increased to forty-three, and with a number of additional countries completing their period of testing soon we expect the number to grow significantly throughout the rest of the year.” He added that “This will be especially true as the new online training, developed by our IT partner UNICC, will help to facilitate the needed training for the many developing countries waiting to come onboard.”

The IPPC Secretariat encourages all contracting parties to actively investigate, register for and begin using the IPPC ePhyto Solution to ensure safe and efficient trade in context of Covid-19 pandemic. For additional information go to: www.ephytoexchange.org
