Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation and Phytosanitary Measures (Regional workshop)

This workshop is designed to create a pool of phytosanitary personnel who can promote national phytosanitary capacity building and who may be used in the coordinated development of phytosanitary capacity in the Africa region and other parts of the world where such expertise is very much in demand. The workshop brings together selected professionals from various countries in the region, a situation which should provide opportunities for meaningful interaction The programme will focus on topics including: 1- The Global Phytosanitary/Trade Environment as Defined by International Treaties 2- The International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures 3- Skills training in Pest Risk Analysis 4- Opportunities and problems for developing countries with regards to international trade in agricultural commodities 5- Phytosanitary systems analysis: Phytosanitary Capacity Evaluation (PCE) and its Application 6- Regional/Subregional perspectives, treaties and trading Problems 7- Harmonization of phytosanitary measures in the Africa region 8- Information exchange (IPP)
