2018-09 update on Projects:

  • With IPPC and NEPPO : conducting a PCE for Tunisia (2018).
  • With IPPC : Started formulation of EU Project (3 million euro) : Programme d’appui à la compétitivité et aux exportations des produits de l’agriculture et de la pêche de la Tunisie (PACE). The project FAO-UE will be signed before the end 2018
  • With NEPPO and UMA : capacity building of NPPOs to manage and prevent the introduction transboundary pest and diseases : XF, RPW, FAW through the development of a regional Phytosanitary database (5 countries of the Maghreb) (2017-2018) https://www.neppo.org/
  • With IPPC; UMA and NEPPO, organizing subregional workshop to exchange on FAW; RPW, XF; cochineal of cactus (Morocco); Green pit scale insect on date palm in Libya (2017-2018).
  • EU-IOM-FAO project in Libya to manage green pit scale insect on date palm (2017-2018).
  • TCP Emergency in Morocco to manage the cochineal of cactus: Dactylopius opuntiae (2017-2018)
  • Formulation of TCP Facilty to prevent the introduction of FAW in Morocco (2018-2019).

  • National systems for the development of phytosanitary contingency plans in the region (2019)
  • Enhancement of the national phytosanitary certification systems, including ePhyto in the region (2019)
  • Use of remote sensing in plant pests surveillance and management in the region (2019)

2018-09 update on Projects:

  • sub-regional project on Strengthening capacities of the national phytosanitary control services in Central Asia ( TCP/SEC/3403, 2013-2015) that supported PCEs in: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
  • project on Strengthening Phytosanitary Control and Diagnostic Services in Azerbaijan (MTF/AZE/007/STF, 2016-2018).
  • project to support the improvement of the national seed, plant variety protection and phytosanitary legislation in Uzbekistan (TCP/UZB/3602, 2017-2018)
  • a project preperation grant from STDF was used to develop a proposal to increase market access by strengthening the capacity of phytosanitary inspection and diagnostic of the State Service on Phytosanitary Inspection and Plant Quarantine of Tajikistan (2017).
