IPPC Call for DP Authors posted!

The IPPC Secretariat is now soliciting nominations for authors of diagnostic protocols (DPs) to work in liaison with the members of Technical Panel on Diagnostic Protocols (TPDP) on the following DPs:

Mononychelus tanajoa (2018-006)

Citrus leprosis virus (2018-025)

Psyllid vectors of Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (2018-030)

Pyricularia oryzae (syn. Magnaporthe oryzae) on Triticum spp. (2019-002)

Microcyclus ulei (2019-003)

Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici UG 99 (2019-004)

Standards Committee (SC) provisional agenda of the November 2019 meeting is now available!

The provisional agenda for the upcoming Standards Committee (SC) meeting in November is now posted at https://www.ippc.int/en/events/event/640/.

The SC will meet from 11 to 15 November at FAO headquarters. They will revise draft ISPMs, proposed recommendations to the CPM-15 (2020), will have strategic discussions on commodity standards and the technical panels work and discuss Implementation and Capacity Development (IC) Committee Interactions.

IPPC ePhyto Takes the Prize!!

Belgium pursuing the minting of a coin to commemorate the International Year of Plant Health

The Royal Mint of Belgium and the Federal Public Service (FPS) Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment of Belgium will be issuing a 2 EURO commemorative coin to promote the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH) in 2020. The initiative is undertaken in cooperation with FAO and the IPPC Secretariat to foster plant health throughout the European Union.

Cargo pest awareness in Australia

Vessels, shipping containers and break-bulk cargo can introduce exotic pests and diseases into new areas with harmful consequences on plant health, food security and the environment. The Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has developed a video and a guide to assist relevant stakeholders with the identification and management of pests that may be present in imported goods and containers at approved arrangement sites.
