Status of Pantoea ananatis

Brève description

Singapore initiated a detection survey of Pantoea ananatis on ornamental plants following a report of this emerging disease by Coutinho and Venter, 2009 to determine the status of this bacterial disease. From 2011 - 2013, a total of 373 samples [based on a 95% confidence for a detection threshold and anticipating a design pest prevalence to be 1% and method accuracy of 80% (McMaugh, 2005)] consisting of 255 different species of non-angiospermic, monocotyledonous and dicotyledonous plants (see attached file on host list), obtained from 43 sites around Singapore have been sampled and tested negative for the presence of Pantoea ananatis. As such, the status of Pantoea ananatis in Singapore: Absent from Singapore (confirmed by survey).
