Résumé

On 2 September 2022, M. enterolobii was detected in the greater Darwin region of the Northern Territory (NT). Following delimiting surveillance, it was subsequently detected at a further six properties in the NT. Meloidogyne enterolobii was additionally detected at one location in Dimbulah in far north Queensland, and one location in Hervey Bay in southern Queensland. Due to the pest’s biology and geographical distribution, it was determined that M. enterolobii is not eradicable from Australia. Synonyms: Meloidogyne mayaguensis

Danger
Meloidogyne enterolobii is a highly pathogenic and aggressive invasive species emerging as an economically important plant pest worldwide. Meloidogyne enterolobii is highly polyphagous with a broad host range including many vegetables, ornamental plants, and weeds. Similar to other root-knot nematode species, M. enterolobii induces typical galls on the roots of infected plants. Crop impacts include stunted growth, wilting, leaf yellowing and deformation of plant organs. Overall, crop yield is reduced both qualitatively and quantitatively.
