Symptoms of what has later been identified as C. fraxineas was observed sporadically in Danish forest around 2003. Since then the pest has spread to all parts of the country, affecting large parts of tree stands and often leading to tree death within few years from the symptoms first appearance.

Serious dieback of ash trees in forests, landscapes and urban areas.
