Résumé

Erwinia amylovora (Ea) was confirmed in 462 pear and apple orchards in Korea by 19 June 2020 based on molecular diagnostic techniques. Ea has been confirmed in these following cities or counties: Chungju (300 orchards), Jecheon (105), Eumseong (10), Jincheon (2), Anseong (26), Paju (2), Icheon (2), Yeoncheon (2), Pyeongchang (2), Cheonan (6), Iksan (2), Yangju (1), Gwangju (Gyeonggi province) (2). Among them, Gwangju (Gyeonggi province), Yangju, Jincheon and Iksan are new outbreak cities in 2020. The 98% of infected orchards are located within 50km radius. The first official survey on Ea in 2020 was conducted in 11~22 May in the outbreak areas of the last year. The second official survey was conducted in all the orchards with host plants national-wide in 8~19 June. The third official survey will be conducted in all the orchards with host plants national-wide in 6~17 July. The final survey on infected areas will be conducted 16~27 November 2020. The results of the survey will be updated later. The Government of Republic of Korea revised manual of official eradication of Ea in 2020 and defined as "Infected Orchards" which confirmed by the occurrence of Ea, and the host plants of infected orchards are destroyed by occurrence rate. The "Control Areas" within 100m radius from the infected trees and infected orchards is under survey of every two weeks during May to September. The "Endangered Areas" within 2km radius from the infected trees is under monthly survey from May to July and November. The ''Regulated Areas" within 5km radius from the infected trees is under regular survey.

Danger
The pathogen could be introduced by plant for planting and cause decrease of the yield of pear and apple. It is known that introduction by commercial fruits is unlikely.
