Résumé

During the official surveys, Phytophthora ramorum was found for the first time in 2003 and later once (2007) in a nursery and three times in public parks (2004, 2005, 2009) in close proximity of introduced infected plants in central Slovenia. All above mentioned occurrences were successfully eradicated which was confirmed by intensive sampling and testing of plants, soil and water in demarcated areas.

During the survey of Phytophthora ramorum in 2016, the disease was found on plants of Rhododendron sp. in a public park. Symptoms of shoot dieback and leaf spot were observed. Infected plants and host plants in radius 2m around infected plants were destroyed. One year later P. ramorum was still present in the soil where infected plants had been grown. Tracing-back studies showed that infected plants were imported.

Since 2002, Phytophtora ramorum has been regulated in Slovenia/European Union under emergency measures Decision 2002/757/EC as amended by Decision (EU) 2016/1967.

Danger

P. ramorum infects a great number of plant species, especially woody ornamentals like Viburnum spp., Camellia spp. and Rhododendron spp. (other than Rhododendron simsii Planch), and forest species, e. g. Acer macrophyllum Pursh, Acer pseudoplatanus L., Castanea sativa Mill., Fagus sylvatica L., Quercus spp. L., and others.
