Brève description

Xylella fastidiosa is a pest of quarantine of importance to a host of nations. Xylella fastidiosa has a broad host range, affecting various plant species including grapes, citrus, almonds, olives, and numerous ornamental plants. Different strains of the bacterium may have preferences for specific host plants. Tanzania has conducted a nation wide survey and, in adherence to ISPM 26 collected samples across the country and performed qPCR test. The NPPO of Tanzania can confidently declare that the pest is absent.

Currently, the NPPO has raised high alert monitoring to ensure the status of the pest remains absent. This includes rapid DNA sequence test at border posts for all plant/plant parts that are known hosts to the pest.
