On 26 January 2017 an award for exceptional teamwork was conferred on the cross-UN agency team consisting of staff from the Joint FAO/International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture, and staff from the Standard setting unit of the IPPC Secretariat. The award is an honour bestowed upon staff of the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department of FAO who carry out activities through exceptional teamwork that have a major impact on meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the FAO strategic objectives.

Canada has announced its financial support to the IPPC and other standard setting organizations. This has been recently announced in Berlin by Lawrence MacAulay, Canada's Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, to FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva.

The 2017 annual meeting of the IPPC Secretariat was held on 19 January at the FAO HQs in Rome, Italy. The main objectives of the meeting were to review the major achievements of the IPPC Secretariat for 2016, to plan the core activities for 2017, and to strengthen teamwork for moving towards “One IPPC”. The draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) that will be presented to CPM-12 (2017) for adoption have been posted in all languages. Please refer to CPM 2017/03 and attachments available at https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/governance/cpm/.

International standards on phytosanitary measures (ISPMs) are posted on the adopted standards page on the IPP (https://www.ippc.int/en/core-activities/standards-setting/ispms/) in the official six FAO languages. Any country that wishes to translate the ISPMs, after adoption by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures, into their local language, is encouraged to do so under a co-publishing agreement with FAO. The 9th Meeting of the CDC was successfully held in Rome from 5 to 9 December 2016. The report has been posted on the IPP. More information regarding ongoing IPPC capacity development activities and phytosanitary resources can be found on the Phytosanitary Resources website.
